We had a wonderful celebration of the new Trust Art Exhibition on the 26th of October 2016. It was a lovely event with live music from Ash Wall and a great turnout from this year’s artists coming to see their work.
The standard this year was higher than ever everyone agreed. We had around 70 entries and were able to exhibit nearly all of those. More people than usual submitted just one piece which means that more individuals took part compared with previous years. Our theme of journeys proved a fruitful one with some great and varied responses ranging from a very detailed diagramatical piece by a consultant illustrating various different psychiatric states of mind to beautiful landscapes and though-provoking portraiture.
Congratulations to our prize winners:
Painting Prize: Richard Mountford for Journey
The Derek O’Halloran Prize for Variety of Technique: Hugwarts for Windows of Opportunity – The Inception of the Hugwarts Journey
Portraiture: Leah Wilshaw for Journey through time – Janis Joplin
Colour and Expression: Maureen Palmer for Helping on Life’s Journey
Best Photograph: Rebecca Oatley (age 10) for Pit Stop
For the first time we are exhibiting the photography separately in the League of Friends Coffee bar (at the back of George’s Bistro), so don’t forget to have a look at that too if you are able. Thanks to all who took part and helped to make the exhibition such a success! Please send your suggestions for next year’s theme to firstname.lastname@example.org.
